Sorbitol is presented as a transparent colorless liquid syrup mixed with water. In terms of its functions, it is a skin and hair moisturizer, a sweetener (coefficient 0.6 of the sweetness of sucrose), a complexing agent, a thickener, an emulsifier, a hygroscopic and dispersing agent, a color stabilizer, and it also gives softness, plasticity and velvetiness to the finished texture. This sorbitol has high refractive indices and does not precipitate, due to which it is used in products where transparency is important.
