Phytosterols

Phytosterols (Phytosterols) refer to a group of steroidal alcohols naturally present in plants. They are structurally related to cholesterol, but differ from cholesterol in the side chain structure. Phytosterols and their esters are well tolerated by the skin and mimic the function of cholesterol. In addition, they have a strong anti-inflammatory effect. We offer phytosterols – Phytosterois 95% Soy (plant soy sterols) and phytosterol esters – Phytosterol Esters 97% (esters of plant sterols).

Phytosterols (Phytosterols) refer to a group of steroidal alcohols naturally present in plants. They are structurally related to cholesterol, but differ from cholesterol in the side chain structure. Phytosterols and their esters are well tolerated by the skin and mimic the function of cholesterol. In addition, they have a strong anti-inflammatory effect. We offer phytosterols – Phytosterois 95% Soy (plant soy sterols) and phytosterol esters – Phytosterol Esters 97% (esters of plant sterols).

Properties of phytosterols:

  • antioxidants;
  • W/O type emulsifiers, can increase the stability of W/O and O/W emulsions;
  • restoration of skin barrier function;
  • increasing skin elasticity and reducing skin roughness;
  • increase in collagen and hyaluronic acid;
  • have a photoprotective effect;
  • conditioning and softening effect;
  • soothing, healing and regenerating effects;
  • Add texture and shine to decorative cosmetics.

Application of phytosterols:

  • cosmetics for dry and mature skin;
  • sunscreen cosmetics (lotions, oils);
  • shampoos and hair conditioners;
  • decorative cosmetics (lipsticks, powders, mascara);
  • children’s cosmetics (skin protection);
  • for the treatment of atopic eczema.

Recommendations for use:

Typically phytosterols are used in 0.5% and 2% creams. Phytosterol esters should be used in concentrations of up to 5%. They are added to shampoos and hair conditioners in concentrations of about 1%.
